IDENTIFY YOUR ADHD SKILLS.
Are you shocked? Well, you my friend have cool ADHD skills that make you a really great entrepreneur.
Let’s start from the fact that you generate killer ideas that could be turned into 6 figure businesses and the fact that your intuition about people is rarely ever wrong.
Now every adult with ADHD has his/ her own unique skills but there are some skills that are oftenly seen in people with ADHD.
If you’re struggling to figure out what your ADHD skills are, here are some things you can do.
1. Analyze what things come easy to you.
2. Notice the positive things that you love about yourself and feel you’re good at.
3. Write them down so that you can read them every single time you start bullying yourself.
4. Lean on those ADHD skills in your business. They will set you apart from the bunch.
If you still can’t figure out what your ADHD skills are, here are 6 superpowers that you most likely have if you have ADHD.
IDENTIFY YOUR ADHD SABOTAGES.
Ok, so now that you’ve mapped that out. Let’s stay ahead of the game by anticipating and identifying the ADHD sabotages.
So what if you forget the next thing that you were going to do/ say. That’s part of living with ADHD as an adult. And as a business owner, you know that there are things that just cannot be forgotten.
And that’s why identifying those ADHD sabotages is so important to staying on track.
In fact, doing so will help you:
1. Be aware of them as they’re happening.
2. Take preventive measures against them to help you run your business smoothly.
3. Anticipate them happening so that they don’t frustrate you when they do happen.
But at the end of the day, it still can be frustrating when you forget an important meeting or a client meet up when you know your business depends on it.
So what can you do?
Create systems around your ADHD.
Instead of letting your ADHD sabotages spoil your business, set up systems that accommodate and substitute your ADHD sabotages.
That will help support you and ensure you’re able to run your business smoothly.
For example, you can create a visual cue for the meeting or set an alarm (or various) ahead of time to remind you of the meeting.
If we can anticipate what our brain tends to do and meet it with a plan of action, then we’ll no longer be punching the air and beating ourselves up.
CREATE A GAMEPLAN
As a person living with ADHD you need to understand that most common business strategies do NOT work for you.
You need a tailored game plan to run your business.
Identifying ADHD friendly business strategies that will work with your ADHD brain is essential. Aren’t you tired of wasting money on courses that either never get used or are just a pile of rubbish. (my inbox used to be full of those)
For instance, most business strategists will tell you to keep distractions away but you know even if you were in an empty room, you’d still get distracted. Or they’ll tell you as long as you follow this formula you’ll be successful. But the formula is nothing short of using icky strategies that don’t feel right.
That’s why you my friend, need an ADHD business coach who understands how your brain works and can coach you through creating a business gameplan that works for you and your lifestyle, NOT against it.
That’s one of the best investments you could ever get for yourself. A relatable mentor that’ll help you craft something you can sustainably maintain and not burn yourself out doing.
That type of knowledge and experience is great to have in your corner and gives you a much needed confidence boost and the results you’re looking for.
Gee but where ever could I find someone like that?

TRIAL AND ERROR STRATEGIES
When you run a business, you need to be able to figure out what works and what doesn’t. And these types of strategies are needed especially if you have ADHD…
Why?
Because it’s obvious that you’re quite unique so following the masses won’t cut it for you.
You may feel like a square peg in a round hole. So let’s embrace your differences and lean into them.
That’s why it’s essential to test out different strategies.
You can start by:
Measuring the strategy’s rate of success (have things improved?)
Identify if the strategy is having a positive impact in your life.
If it does but not fully…
Look for ways to tweak the strategy to give you better results.
For instance, as a business coach living with ADHD, I figured quite early that the amount of time I spent thinking about an idea and how much action I took on it was unproportionate.
I would spend so much time thinking about an idea, talking about it even, but when it came to the execution, I just never came around to doing it.
So I created a strategy that gave me space to be a think tank but also gave me ample time to execute those ideas in a timely manner without ever making myself feel worked up or frustrated.
For instance, I found that I had a lot of anxiety when I would start executing an idea. Instead of letting that stop me, I would keep myself calm by using my fidget toy, cranking my playlist, and taking things step by step.
LEAN ON ACCOUNTABILITY
Living with ADHD is hard, especially with doctors that prescribe medication without proper diagnosis and ignorant comments from misinformed people.
That’s why it’s really important to have a support system of business men and women like yourself living and thriving with ADHD.
Not only will it give you a sense of belonging but it will also push you to becoming a better entrepreneur. You’ll see that possibilities are endless for you even if you have ADHD.
Plus, you’ll have a community that will cheer you on as you accomplish your business goals.
Wouldn’t that be nice?
MASTER YOUR MARKETING
For many ADHD’ers, selling can feel intimidating and icky. We’re highly aware of when we’re being sold to and don’t want to put people in that position. Also, exposing ourselves to the possibility of rejection is WAY too scary. But marketing is a huge piece of your business. If people don’t know about your business, how are you going to impact their life?
That’s why it’s good to find your own style of marketing. Finding a way to put the you in your marketing will help you not feel like a sleezy car salesman.
You can start by:
Identifying your audience’s language.
Finding out the words they use when they describe their problems. That will ensure you don’t sound like just another salesman.
Keep the human element.
Avoid sounding like a machine. Make your marketing relatable.
Often we think we need to come across as this polished professional persona. But that couldn’t be more boring and forgettable. People don’t get excited to buy from faceless corporations. They want to connect with you and feel like they’re getting to support you.
If you’re not sure how to do that or you don’t know how to start, you can join our ADHD Business Membership “The Squirrelpreners Society” created specifically for your ADHD brain to get the education it needs to grow your business while getting the motivational support from your new biz besties.
