9 TECH RESOURCES FOR ADHD ENTREPRENEURS
As an ADHD entrepreneur, productivity, task completion and reduced distraction should be at the fore front of your life.
Those three things massively affect:
How much you’re able to accomplish in a day.
How long it takes you to accomplish the tasks.
How well you’re able to prioritize those tasks.
Now, when you have an ADHD brain like we do, those things don’t come naturally to us. We are uniquely different. So we’ve got to find tools and resources that can support our ADHD brains so that we’re able to accomplish our to do lists by managing our shortcomings.
And by managing I mean being aware of their existence, anticipating them to happen before they do happen and taking the necessary actions to manage them.
For instance, if I find that I can’t remember something that I wanted to say, I carry around a pen/ paper or a recorder. They will help me record it while it’s still fresh in my mind before my ADHD brain wanders off.
With that being said, here are my favorite 9 tech resources that are incredibly amazing when it comes to supporting ADHD entrepreneurs.
OTTER.AI
I love love otter.AI because it helps transcribe all my meetings. I have 1:1 sessions with my clients, virtual meetings with my VAs and I usually have to remember what was talked about In the meeting that is why I use Otter.io
All I have to do is integrate Otter.ai with my meeting platform and it automatically joins the meeting, records and creates transcripts for me to easily search for or read when I am looking for a reference point.
It helps me remember what was said in the meeting without me having to sit down an entire hour watching a recorded meeting.
All I have to do is search specific words and the AI simply produces results and I can go through the transcripts.
VIDEO SPEED RECORDER
Just like any other person using the Internet, ADHD people love videos. But we don’t have the patience to finish a whole 15-minute video. Our brains get bored. But because I know that there are some videos I need to watch until the very end, I simply use this chrome extension to speed up those ones. That helps to keep my brain attentive to the content of the video long enough to get the value of the video until when my ADHD brain has had enough.
This chrome extension is absolutely free and works with any video platform.
ONE TAB
What better way to show you that I have ADHD and I am proud of it other than opening a gazillion tabs. I am so guilty of doing this and struggled with it until I discovered One tab.
All ADHD brains love multi tasking. I’m working while knitting and telling myself that I’ll fold my clothes in the next minute. That’s why we end up opening so many tabs. We want to be able to do it but our bodies cannot move as fast as our brain. Additionally, that aspect makes us unable to focus on one thing for a long time.
But with one tab, I’m still able to open as many tabs as I want and also focus on one thing at a time.
If I want to work on my website, I can simply tap on the One Tab icon and it changes all my tabs into folders and makes them disappear. All I have to do is pick on the tab that I was working on and all the rest are no longer in a place where they can easily distract me.
And if I still want to access those tabs that are in my One Tab all at once, I can still do that – but I only do that when I’m done working.
When I’m done working, I can let my ADHD brain wander around in those tabs until it’s time to work again and I do it all over again.
So I have the best of both worlds. My ADHD brain is not in distress and I’m still able to focus and get things done.
COCOON WEAVER
So it’s midnight and ping, your ADHD brain just got a brilliant idea on how you’re going to solve your audience’s problems better than your competition.
But you go back to sleep and in the morning it’s all gone. You can’t remember what the brilliant idea was.
With Cocoon weaver, you can stop worrying about that. It allows you to record ideas as they pop up in your mind. It’s a mobile app meaning you have access to it all day and night.
So the next time an idea pops up in your mind, reach out for your phone and record it with cocoon weaver.
I love cocoon weaver because I was able to record my ideas – even the bad ones. Then, I would dedicate time during the day to listen to all my ideas, jot down the ones that I thought were amazing and discard the rest.
I also love the fact that I can categorize my ideas into categories because I juggle a lot as a wife, entrepreneur and a mother. So I have categories for my business, home stuff, finances and stuff that involves me and my hubby. That way, it’s not one crazy mambo jumbo of notes that can get me frustrated when trying to sort them out.
BENCH.CO
As an entrepreneur with ADHD, you still need to be able to track your expenditure and the money that’s coming into your business in a seamless way.
That way, you don’t forget, and you also have an online record that can easily be accessible.
That’s why I love bench.co because it’s an online bookkeeping platform that does everything for me.
I never have to worry if my bookkeeping is done right especially because of tax filing.
Speaking of which, tax season is here and if you’re an ADHD entrepreneur, this is the tool for you to use to make tax filing less stressful.
MINDMEISTER
I cannot keep one train of thought for too long and neither do I like long blurbs of words. I’d rather be shown than be told.
My ADHD brain finds it boring when content is not in visual form. It also doesn’t want to be staring at something for a long period of time.
That isn’t stimulating enough.
So when I’m working on projects that take a long time to finish, my brain gets easily tired. That’s why if I’m creating long form content or course material & outline, Mind Meister comes in very handy.
I love that it is visually appealing and that it intrigues my ADHD brain. If I want to communicate my ideas to my team, it can easily be changed into visuals that are so appealing which makes it so much easier for me to remember.
Also, when I create mind maps, it’s easier for me to follow the tasks that I’m supposed to do because of the visual representation.
COFFITIVITY
If you have ADHD, I know you love working in a place that has a bit of noise. It keeps your ADHD brain activated as opposed to working in complete silence. That’s why most entrepreneurs end up working in coffee shops because it makes them super productive.
Now, what if I told you that you could bring the coffee shop feeling right into your house?
Well, you can do just that with this site. It gives you the ability to bring the coffee shop sounds right into your home so you feel as though you’re working in a coffee shop.
I really love the concept because I don’t have to waste time driving/ walking to the closest coffee shop. Two, I have a toddler so I cannot just walk around with him in coffee shops. Instead, I can just get the coffee shop vibes right in my house.
How cool is that?
TICKTICK
When you have ADHD, there are two things that will make you super productive. Lists and timers.
And that’s what this list making mobile app does. It combines lists and alarms to help you know when to start and stop a task. And there’s also a timer which is perfect to execute the Pomodoro technique which works like a charm on ADHD’ers.
So instead of creating alarms separately and then creating a list, you can do it all on one platform within a few minutes.
AUDIBLE
When you’re an entrepreneur, you need to read books. They motivate you and give you insights into how things have worked for other people. But if you’re anything like me, you’ll know that sitting down to read a book is setting yourself up for failure. You’ll either not finish the book or not get past the first chapter.
To counter that, I will use audible. Audible helps me listen to books as someone reads it out to me. I can change the speed of the person’s speech if he/she is slow so that I don’t get bored. Plus, I can listen to my book and clean at the same time. It helps me feel super productive as I learn something new.
So which tool do you think you’ll be trying out? Leave it in the comment section and tell me why.
